Born in Klagenfurt but raised in Villach, Petra Ladinigg moved to Vienna in 2003 to study and never left. She earned a BA in Script and Dramaturgy in 2008 at the Vienna Film Academy (University of Music and Performing Arts) and a BA in Comparative Literature in 2013 (University of Vienna) and will continue studying until she has an MA.

Her feature film scripts for the Berlinale award-winning films RISSE IM BETON and KUMA were directed by director Umut Dağ. Petra Ladinigg received the Thomas Pluch Drehbuch Hauptpreis for the latter. She is currently working on several TV projects, including an international series.
