Born and raised in Vienna, Mariam Hage discovered acting during her school years and began performing while still in high school. During this time, she also spent an exchange year in California, where she perfected her English. She began her professional acting career in theatre before transitioning to film and television, and has since built a diverse body of work across television, feature films and independent cinema.

Her film credits range from independent productions to feature films, including Chris Kraus’ 15 Jahre and Michael Grudsky’s Tamas Traum. Most recently, she joined the main cast of Sebastian Brauneis’ feature film AMS – Arbeit muss sein, which will have its German premiere at the Internationale Hofer Film Tage in October 2026.

Hage gained wider recognition for her performance in the title role of Tatort: Azra (2023). Her portrayal drew considerable praise from the German-language press across Germany, Austria and Switzerland, with critics particularly highlighting her versatility and her ability to move between vulnerability, intensity and uncompromising strength.

She went on to star as midwife Nalan in the ZDFneo drama series Push (2024). The series received three nominations at the 2024 German Television Awards, including Best Drama Series, and won Best Directing Fiction. For her performance in Push, Hage was nominated for the Jupiter Award for Best Actress in TV/Streaming and is once again in contention for the award for the series’ second season, which premiered in summer 2026.
