Jella Haase, who was born and raised in Berlin, began her film career in her teenage years. She first gained attention in David Wnendt’s highly acclaimed Combat Girls (2011) before winning the hearts of millions as Chantal in Bora Dagtekin’s Suck Me Shaekspeer series. In 2016, she was awarded as European Shooting Star at the Berlinale. Among her many achievements, 2022 she won the German Movie Award for her performance as supporting actress in Andreas Kleinert’s Dear Thomas as well as the Grimme Prize, the German Television Award, the Bambi and her second Jupiter Award in 2023 for her most popular role as Kleo in the same named Netflix series.

Her theatre work includes a long-standing collaboration with the Volksbühne Berlin. She took over leading roles in the following projects: Leonie Krippendorff’s Kinder der Sonne, Bora Dagtekin’s Chantal in Fairyland and Oliver Rihs’ Schwarze Schafe, as well as the second season of Kleo.

Her most recent projects include Marie Kreutzer’s Gentle Monster which premiered in the official competition at the Cannes International Film Festival 2026 and Die Jahre mit Dir by Oscar winning director Caroline Link.
