Lia von Blarer was born in Basel, Switzerland, and trained at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock, graduating in 2018, with additional study at the École supérieure d’art dramatique in Paris. She made her screen debut with the highly successful limited series MaPa, followed by Dennis Stormer’s Youth Topia (2019), which won the Zurich Film Festival Audience Award, the Hessischer Filmpreis, and the Filmfestival Cottbus Youth Award in 2021.
Her subsequent credits include the ARD mini-series KaDeWe – Our Time Is Now, for which she was nominated for the New Faces Award, and David Schalko’s Kafka (ARD/ORF), which was Grimme Preis nominated in 2024. Further recent work includes the series Bad Influencer and 113, the latter earning her a Jupiter Award Nomination for Best National Actress.
Lia von Blarer is also active as a writer and recently played a role in Alina Marazzi’s international co-production The Girl with the Leica (2025) and will be seen in the bestselling adaptation BLIND for Swiss TV in 2026. Besides German and English, she is fluent in French and is represented by AAVC for French speaking territories.
