Lia von Blarer grew up in Switzerland. At 15, she moved to Berlin to take her Abitur. She also attended schools in New Zealand, Santander, and Lausanne. She later studied acting at HMT Rostock and ESAD Paris.
In 2019, Lia played her first leading role in the feature film “Youth Topia” by Dennis Stormer and Marisa Meier, which received the Audience Award at the Zurich Film Festival and the Best Director Award at the Achtung Berlin Festival, among others. The film was released in Swiss cinemas in 2022 and will celebrate its German theatrical premiere in 2023.
After a break due to Corona, she also returned to the stage in 2022 at the Nibelungen Festival Worms. Lia played the Norn of the Future in the world premiere of “hildensaga. ein königinnendrama” by Ferdinand Schmalz, directed by Roger Vontobel.
Since then, Lia has maintained her playful diversity in a wide variety of artistic formats including a.o. “Mapa”, “KaDeWe – Our Time Is Now” and “The Fox” (WT).
In November 2022, Verlag Kettler published the photo book “Hurry Up And Wait”, which shows analogue photographs by Lia and which she developed together with Valerie Stoll during the filming of “Eldorado KaDeWe” in Hungary. The profit from the book goes to the NGO Budapest Pride. It juxtaposes queer German fiction with queer Hungarian reality. Lia lives in Berlin and Paris.
