Devrim Lingnau Islamoğlu was born in 1998 in Mannheim and holds German nationality, working fluently in German, English, and Turkish. During her school years, she studied ballet and attended the Academy of Dance at the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts. She studied fine art at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe in Ulla von Brandenburg’s class. She received her diploma in 2024.
Devrim’s screen career began with roles in German television before her international breakthrough as Empress Elisabeth in the Netflix series Die Kaiserin (The Empress), which she has now played across three seasons. Her performance brought her the Deutscher Schauspielpreis in 2023, and she was selected for European Shooting Star in 2025.
Her feature film work includes Neele Leana Vollmar’s Auerhaus (2019) and Mehmet Büyükatalay’s Hysteria (2023), which premiered in the Berlinale Panorama in 2025. Her short film Immakulata, directed by Kim Lea Sakkal, screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023. In 2024, she appeared in Damian Dorsaz’s feature Lady Nazca. Her most recent production is the BBC/MGM+ series Legacy of Spies (2026).
