Maja Bons was born in 2003 in Berlin. She applied to an open casting by casting director Liza Stutzky in 2023 and immediately attracted attention with her lead performance in ARD series Everyone is f*cking Crazy. Camilla Guttner’s Die Akademie (2023) marked her second performance and first lead role in a feature film. Further credits followed in rapid succession, including Clara Zoë My Linh von Arnim’s Marzahn Mon Amour, Christian Ditter’s Momo, Joscha Bongard’s highly acclaimed Babystar, and the Netflix series Unfamiliar.
Her early career has already been recognised with significant industry honours: she received the Nominierung Bunte New Faces Film Award for Best Newcomer in 2024, the Bayerischer Filmpreis for Best Newcomer Actress in 2025, and the New Stars@Deutscher Filmball award for Best Young Actress also in 2025. She is recently playing a lead role in feature film Superbusen and belongs to the main cast of Christian Schwochow’s Hamburg Days.
Maja is currently one of the most prominent emerging talents in German cinema, with several productions in development and release in 2025 and 2026. She is represented by Hamilton Hodell in de UK.
