Neelesha Barthel is a German-Indian director and writer from Berlin. Her first cinematic steps culminated in the feature-length documentary “Bling Bling” (2001) about hip hop artists in Los Angeles. She then shot the family-separation documentary “Fifty Fifty” (2002) for “ZDF Kleines Fernsehspiel”. In 2002, Neelesha began studying directing at the film academy HFF “Konrad Wolf” Potsdam. She directed her cinema debut, the Kreuzberg culture-clash comedy “Marry Me!” (2015), as writer and director. Since then she has worked for various TV films and series and continues to develop her own material. Most recently, she directed the Tatort “Verborgen” (Hidden), which screened at the Emden Film Festival in 2022 and have its broadcast date in spring 2023.
