Aaron Altaras was born in Berlin in 1995, where he grew up. He made his film debut as a child in Jo Baier’s Not All Were Murderers (2008) and appeared on stage at the Berliner Ensemble. He made his breakthrough in Maria Schrader’s acclaimed Netflix series Unorthodox (2019), in which he starred alongside Shira Haas, thereby gaining wider international recognition.
Since then, Aaron Altaras has established himself as one of the most sought-after actors of his generation in German-language film and television. His recent work includes Deutsches Haus, Einfach mal was Schönes, Wild Republic, and the feature film The Girl with the Leica. In 2023, he played one of the leading roles in the ARD series The Zweiflers, directed by Clara Zoe My-Linh von Arnim and Anja Marquardt.
His performance in The Zweiflers earned him the German Television Award and the Blue Panther TV & Streaming Award in 2024, both in the “Best Actor” category. The second season of The Zweiflers, in which Aaron plays the lead role, wrapped in May 2026.
