UMUT DAĞ HAS COMPLETED SHOOTING THE 2nd and 3rd part of »VIENNA BLOOD«

Umut Dağ has just completed principle photography on both parts (2 x 90min) of the 3-parter »Vienna Blood« (German title: »Liebermann«). The scripts, based on the best-selling novels by Frank Tallis have been written by Steve Thompson (Deep State, Sherlock).

Matthew Beard (The Imitation Game) and Juergen Maurer are starring, alongside an impressive cast including Jessica de Gouw, Luise von Finckh, Conleth Hill (Game of Thrones), Ursula Strauss, Harald Windisch, Simon Hatzl, Rainer Wöss, Christoph Luser, Gerhard Liebmann, Maria Bill, Petra Morzé and Alma Hasun.

»Vienna Blood« is produced by MR Film und Endor Productions, in co-production with ORF, ZDF and Red Arrow Studios International.

Set in the city in the early 1900’s, the plot focuses on a protégé of Sigmund Freud who helps a detective inspector solve an unusual and disturbing murder.

The three features will be based on Tallis’ first three books in the Liebermann Papers series of novels, and the films will be called Vienna Blood: The Last Seance, Vienna Blood: The Realm of Night and Vienna Blood: Fatal Lies.

After Umut Dağ won the First Steps Award for his short film PAPA in 2011, he debuted with his first feature film KUMA as the opening film in the Panorama section of the Berlinale in 2012. His second feature film RISSE IM BETON also premiered at the Berlinale. After LANDKRIMI – ENDABRECHNUNG for ORF, he received great attention from audiences and critics in Germany with TATORT – “REBECCA” and the multi-award-winning film DAS DEUTSCHE KIND. For DAS DEUTSCHE KIND he was nominated for the Grimme Award 2019 and received the German Directing Award Metropolis, among others. In 2018, Umut directed two more TATORTS (SONNENWENDE and DAS MONSTER VON KASSEL). He made his international debut in 2019 with two episodes of the TV three-parter VIENNA BLOOD, which won the Romy International Award 2020.
In 2021, the German-Austrian miniseries AM ANSCHLAG – DIE MACHT DER KRÄNKUNG, which he directed and features a top-class cast, was released.
