Petra Ladinigg trained in Screenwriting and Dramaturgy at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien – Filmakademie, Her long-standing creative partnership with director Umut Dağ started with their debut collaboration on Kuma (Wega Film, 2012), which premiered in the Panorama section of the Berlinale and screened at festivals internationally followed by their second feature together, Risse im Beton (Wega Film, 2014), which again premiered at Panorama /Berlinale.
Ladinigg has since developed a wide range of television projects, including the concept and pilot for the mini-series Wench (Moovie, 2021, with director Andreas Prochaska), the pilot for the comedy series Planetarium (Syrreal Entertainment), her most recent credit include the ORF Tatort – Der Elektriker (Prismafilm, 2025). Together with Umut Dağ and Clarissa Brandeis she is developing their next feature film, Die Schweigenden.
Petra won the Thomas Pluch Script Prize at the Diagonale— one of Austria’s most prestigious screenwriting awards. She lives in Vienna and mostly writes in the genres of drama, comedy and crime.
