Lucas Thiem was born in Neustrelitz and graduated from Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin (dffb) in 2020. He has developed a career as a screenwriter and filmmaker working across television drama, crime series, audio fiction, and feature development.
His television writing credits span a wide range of genres and broadcasters, with contributions to the ARD series Bonn (Seasons 1 and 2, Writers Room), Headwriter of the ZDF crime series Conti with Desiree Nosbusch in the lead (dirs. Claudia Garde and Nathan Nill, Letterbox Filmproduktion, 2023, 2024, 2025), the NDR Polizeiruf 110 – Widerfahrnis (dir. Umut Dağ, Filmpool Fiction, 2022), and the upcoming BR Tatort – Totholz (dir. Kilian Riedhof, Bantry Bay, 2026) as well as the ZDF Polizeiruf 110 – Zaungäste (dir. Esther Bialas, Razor Film, 2027).
In 2021 Lucas wrote and produced the 10-part Heist radio play series Enter Europa about the downfall of the European Union with Maryam Zaree, Burghart Klaußner, Katharina Thalbach, Mark Waschke, Joel Basman, Philip Froissant, Tua El-Fawwal, Tom Schilling and Dela Dabulamanzi, among others.
He is currently preparing his debut feature Nobbi im Nebel (Von Anfang Anders/ZDF Das kleine Fernsehspiel, 2027) staring Charly Hübner, which he will be directing too. Lucas is based between Berlin and Rügen.
