Arpana Aischa Berndt Writer

Arpana Aischa Berndt trained in Creative Writing and Cultural Journalism at the University of Hildesheim, and is based in Berlin. Her start in the film industry was as a dramaturgical consultant, sensitivity reader, and consultant for film and television productions (including Souls, Tatort, Zeit Verbrechen, A Better Place, Schloss Einstein) with a focus on discrimination-sensitive storytelling and production.

She went on writing for television in a Writers Room for the second season of the ZDFneo series Loving Her (2023), and as Headwriter on the ZDF drama series Wake Up (U5 Filmproduktion, directors Mia Maariel Meyer and Tim Trachte, 2026).

Together with Raquel Dukpa she is developing her feature debut Sibs, for which they were funded by Kuratorium junger deutscher Film, and together with Clara Zoë My-Linh von Arnim is writing Sugarbabe (Lehof, 2024). For theatre, she wrote Anders Lost, performed at the Volksbühne Berlin in 2025.

Arpana writes in the genres of drama, comedy, horror, and thriller, as well as their intersections.
