Mido Kotaini was born in 2002 and speaks Arabic as a native language alongside German. He first came to wider attention through the ARD Mediathek comedy series Almania, created by David Gruschka, in which he appeared across all three seasons from 2020 to 2024. Further screen credits include recurring appearances in Doppelhaushälfte (ZDFneo) and Tom Tykwer’s feature Das Licht (X Filme, 2023).
His most significant screen breakthrough to date came with his role in Bora Dagtekin’s Chantal im Märchenland (2023), which brought him the Bunte New Faces Award in the Schauspiel category in 2025 and for which he was also awarded the New Star Award at the German Filmball 2026. He also appeared in Torsten Wacker’s ZDF feature Strike (2024), in Tatort Bundespolizei (director Lars Kraume) and is currently filming the ARD production 3 Minuten.
