Benito Bause was born in 1991 and studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” in Leipzig, graduating in 2017. While still a student, he received the Marina Busse Solo Award in 2016. Following his graduation, he worked as a stage actor at Neues Theater Halle, Schauspielhaus Zürich, and Residenztheater München, collaborating with acclaimed directors including Barbara Frey, Christoph Marthaler, and Sebastian Baumgarten.

He gained widespread attention with leading roles in the groundbreaking ARD series All You Need which showcased his versatility across drama and comedy.

A major breakthrough came with the hit ZDF comedy series Doppelhaushälfte, in which he plays one of the central characters. The critically acclaimed and highly successful series has become one of Germany’s most popular television comedies and continues to expand its audience, with a sixth season currently in production.

His further screen credits include the Netflix series Das letzte Wort, the acclaimed Swiss productions Neumatt and Frieden, and Apple TV+’s Where’s Wanda? And the ARD comedy series Ghosts which is set to continue with a second season in 2026. His feature film work includes Christian Schwochow’s Paula and Sedat Aslan’s Nichtsnutze.

In addition to his acting work, Bause is a celebrated audiobook narrator. Der Junge in den falschen Schuhen was named Audiobook of the Year in 2025, while Geheimname Eisvogel received the Deutscher Hörbuchpreis in 2026.
