Tobias Koppe studied Cinematography at the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf and built his early career across German television, working repeatedly with director Jano Ben Chaabane across multiple seasons of Blind ermittelt for ARD Degeto and ORF, and the series MaPa for Joyn and ARD Degeto. He also served as the director of photography on the influential ZDFneo youth series Druck.
His major breakthrough came with the Netflix series Kleo (Zeitsprung Pictures), for which he was the cinematographer across both seasons (2021 and 2023). The series received the Grimme-Preis in 2023, and Tobias was awarded the Deutsche Fernsehakademie (DAfFNE) for Best Camera for his work on the production in the same year. His earlier work on the short film Her Story received the Deutscher Kamerapreis in 2022. Further credits include the ZDF series Deadlines, the Disney+ series Pauline and the Netflix-series Kacken an der Havel, which was in Netflix top 5 charts for several weeks. Tobias is currently shooting a historic streamer series and is based in Berlin.
