Katharina Bühler is a Berlin-based cinematographer working across feature films, television and streaming productions. She studied Directing and Cinematography at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg and has been working as a cinematographer since 2011. Her work is marked by a strong focus on character and atmosphere, combining visual precision with a keen sense of emotional storytelling. Katharina speaks German, English and Spanish.

Her feature work includes Tagundnachtgleiche (Lena Knauss), which screened at the Max Ophüls Film Festival, and Blindgänger (Kerstin Polte), which received multiple awards and nominations, including Best Cinematography at the Female Filmmakers Festival in 2024 and the Best Cinematography Award at the Hollywood International Diversity Film Festival in 2026. Her cinematography for Plötzlich so still earned a nomination for the Deutscher Kamerapreis.

Katharina gained international recognition through her work on three episodes of Netflix’s Emmy Award-winning series The Empress. Further television credits include Der Scheich for Paramount+, the Grimme Award-nominated series Wir, and Oh Hell (Season 2), for which she received the DAfFNE Award for Cinematography in 2025, shared with Anne Bolick.
