Jonathan “Jonny” Ibeka is a Berlin-based cinematographer who came to filmmaking the long way around. Instead of attending film school, he worked his way through the ranks of film production, gaining experience in almost every position on set before stepping behind the camera. This practical background continues to inform his collaborative and instinctive approach to cinematography.
His work spans film and television and includes the acclaimed Netflix series Kleo, directed by Isabel Braak, which went on to receive, among others, both the Grimme Prize and the German Television Award.
Most recently, Jonny served as sole cinematographer on the RTL+ series Euphorie (Zeitsprung Pictures, 2025), directed by Antonia Leyla Schmidt and André Szardenings, one of Germany’s most ambitious streaming productions of 2025. He is currently shooting an untitled series directed by Sophie Linnenbaum for a major streamer, scheduled for release in 2027.
