Simone Hart is an Austrian cinematographer based in Vienna. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in cinematography at the Filmakademie Vienna in 2021, having previously studied at the HBLA für künstlerische Gestaltung in Linz and completed a multimedia programme at die Graphische in Vienna.
During her studies she explored a wide range of genres, techniques and materials, developing a distinctive approach to both fiction and documentary storytelling. The short films she shot during this period were recognised at numerous international festivals, including the Max Ophüls Preis, Vienna Shorts, the Diagonale, the Ljubljana International Film Festival, and the Berlinale.
Since graduating, Simone has built an impressive track record across narrative and documentary formats. Her debut feature film Wenn du Angst hast nimmst du dein Herz in den Mund und lächelst premiered at the Berlinale 2025, where it received both the Teddy Jury Award and the CICAE Art Cinema Award. Her documentary work has also earned wide recognition: Girls & Gods won Best Film in International Competition at Biografilm Italy and received a Special Jury Prize at the Vienna Film Award, while Land der Berge earned multiple honours including Best Short Film at the Österreichischer Filmpreis 2025.
She made her television debut in Im Schatten der Angst – Der Skorpion for ORF/ZDF, directed by Umut Dağ.
Simone received a nomination for Best Cinematography at the Österreichischer Filmpreis 2026 for Wenn du Angst hast nimmst du dein Herz in den Mund und lächelst, cementing her position as one of the most promising cinematographers of her generation working in the German-language film landscape.
