Alina Albrecht was born in Hamburg and trained in Cinematography at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (dffb), graduating in 2017. She developed her practice through an extensive body of short films, building a long-running creative partnership with director Berglind Thrastardottir, whose films she shot at dffb. Her short When the Trees Come screened at the Palm Springs Shortfest and the Reykjavik International Film Festival in 2022. She has also worked as a drone operator on major productions including the Netflix series Kleo (Season 1) and the Sky series Helgoland 513.

Her breakthrough as a director of photography came with Maja Classen’s documentary feature A Body Like Mine (2023), which premiered at the Doc.Berlin Documentary Film Festival — where it won Best German Documentary Film — and subsequently screened at Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, the BFI Flare: London LGBTIQ+ Film Festival, and the Ghent Viewpoint Documentary Film Festival, where it received the Best LGBTQ+ Documentary Film Award in 2024. Her fiction work has expanded with the ongoing WDR series Wäldern (directed by Till Franzen) across four television films, and the dffb graduation feature Filo (Aleksandra Odic, 2023), films that undermine her approach to filmmaking as looking beyond the obvious and opening new ways of seeing and understanding through her cinematography.

In 2025, Alina Albrecht received the Best Camera Award at the Achtung Berlin Filmfestival for the documentary Truth or Dare (Maja Classen). Her upcoming work includes the ZDFneo series Ballz (Benjamin Teske, 2026). She is based in Berlin.
