Born in Copenhagen, Mads was introduced to acting by his uncle, who ran a local theatre. At the age of five he proudly announced to the world that he would become an actor and hasn’t been taken seriously ever since. Mads graduated from The Danish National Theatre School of Performing Arts in 2008 and his screen debut came later that year in EIN MANN, EIN FJORD, a German comedy starring Hape Kerkeling nominated for Best Comedy at the German Academy Awards. Mads appeared in his first Danish feature film in 2009 in THE WILD SWANS directed by Peter Flindt. Having studied in Vienna and New York afterwards, Mads decided to focus on his stage career in Denmark and joined the ensemble of the critically acclaimed Aalborg Theatre, appearing in both contemporary and classical performances, including the award-winning show AALBORG- JE T’AIME. 2011 saw Mads in yet another international production. He landed his first on-going TV-role as the suave womanizer civil policeman Mr Thomsen in GROSSSTADTREVIER- one of the most successful German Television series of all time, currently shooting his third season. In 2012 Mads appeared in the Academy Award nominated Danish feature film A ROYAL AFFAIR, starring name brother Mads Mikkelsen, which was also selected for the official at the 2012 Berlin International Film Festival. Mads has recently finished working on the Zentropa project DARK ROOMS, playing a complex man, who sexually exploits teenage boys, and next year he can be seen in CITY 44, directed by Jan Komosa; a historic feature film about the Warsaw Uprising, where he plays the flamboyant and ill-natured SS Officer “Hermann”.
When not performing Mads is passionate about physical challenges, travelling, learning languages, playing instruments with variable success, and diving the seven seas.
