Pia Mechler

After having spent some time in Paris Pia studied media-oriented drama at the renowned European Film College in Denmark. In 2005, after her graduation, she moved to Berlin and during a shooting of a short film on the street, the director Christine Wiegand approached and hired her. While she shot in Cologne, she also commuted to Portugal again and again, to perform with her college band MAU. Founded during her time at university and more or less a party gag her band MAU eventually signed a deal on Universal as a pop electro band. After two years with ever more increasing roles for film and television she heavy-heartedly parted with MAU. In 2007, she got the urge to travel again. Full of adventure she hit the road to discover the English performing arts and film business. After only four days, she had her first casting and soon her first role in the English TV film COLOUR OF MAGIC. Then in 2008, her first independent cinema film in London followed: her performance in INVISIBLE EYES brought her raving reviews from the critics.

Help financing Pias directors debut:

One summer in Brooklyn, two women test their freedom and friendship. “Thelma & Louise” meets “Girls”, starring Tonia Sotiropoulou, Pia Mechler and Hannah Herzsprung.

"Everything Is Wonderful...or is it really?

At one point or another we've all found ourselves lost and dissatisfied, even when everything should be fine. Here’s the story:

We follow two friends, Lena (Pia Mechler) and Maria (Tonia Sotiropoulou) during one week in the summer as they test the limits of their freedom and friendship. Living a life without financial burdens, Lena becomes increasingly bored with her seemingly perfect life in her beautiful Brooklyn apartment. Maria is unsatisfied with her stressful job as a waitress and her unfulfilled dreams of being an actress. After Lena discovers her husband cheating, Maria and Lena begin a week of crazy partying. Whenever they are together, they seem happy. Whenever they are apart, their lack of symbiosis fails them. They drink and party, make out with random men, sleep in the same bed and mimic each other’s behaviors. Lena and Maria end up in the Hamptons where everything takes an unexpected turn."
