Lucas Englander

Lucas Englander was born in Vienna, Austria into a Czech-American-Austrian family. When his aunt brought Lucas to a set at the age of 9 and asked him if he wanted to act, he replied with a sophisticated “no”. But still, without his family knowing, he wrote scenes over scenes, which he acted out every day in his room by himself. Years passed and his interest in the world’s environmental, political and legal system grew stronger. Soon after, at the age of 18, Lucas was introduced to the dramaturge Karl Baratta, who then became his mentor and taught him the basics in theatre acting. Through Karl Lucas made his stage debut at the National Theatre of Upper Austria in 2011. One year later, Lucas was accepted to the Stella Adler Studio of Acting and soon moved to NYC. But after the first semester he realized that school is not the right thing for him and although being offered a full scholarship by the Studio, he moved back to Europe in 2013, enrolled in a course at Jacques Lecoq in Paris and upon completion moved to London. In London Lucas played the part of Matthew in an Off-West End production of Terrence McNally’s CORPUS CHRISTI.
Lucas is very grateful for this experience and among many great reviews, What’s-on-London wrote, “Lucas Englander makes for a memorable Matthew, delectably restrained…”. In 2014 he was cast for the Austrian cinema movie PLANET OTTAKRING, which then led him on to more projects, among others the TV crime movie FAST FORWARD, the German TV series SOKO LEIPZIG and the feature film TIGER GIRL. On the side he studies Sociology.

Lucas believes in brutal honesty and the total immersion with the character’s reality. What he wishes most is to build an emotional bridge to the audience: A place where the reality of the movie becomes the reality of the audience.
